Kid-Friendly Airports

Some of our readers have sent in great tips about airport terminals around the world that have some family-friendly features!   Hopefully some of these suggestions can make your layovers a little more fun.

(DTW) Detroit Metropolitan Airport
  • The McNamara Terminal has a large infinity style fountain right in the center of Concourse A on Level 2
  • Several "Family Restrooms" are distributed throughout the terminals.  These large private bathrooms have a locking door, plenty of space to fit a stroller and several children, a separate (and large!) stall with a toilet, permanent changing tables affixed to counter tops, a sink, a diaper vending machine ($1.50 each) and benches where you can sit while you redress a squirmy child.

(ORD) O'Hare International Airport
  • The Children's Museum of Chicago built a playground in Terminal 2.  Features include planes with cockpits that the children can actually sit in and fiddle with.
